RULES AND REGULATION OF GLOBAL IMPACT COMPETITION SPAIN 2017 CANDIDATES:


  • The contest is intended for new, independent ventures and innovations.
  • The contest is intended for individuals, who can participate with their projects or representing a team. However, the evaluation of the project will be based on the qualifications of the individual, not the team, and only the individual representing the team will receive the scholarship.
  • The candidate must be a citizen of Spain.
  • The candidate must speak English fluently.
  • All candidates are suitable for participation, but entrepreneurs with experience in launching real business, social or technology projects will be prioritized.
  • All candidates must be available to participate in the Singularity University Global Solution Program for 10 Weeks during the summer of 2017, more info at https://su.org/programs/global-solutions-program.

CONCEPT AND PROJECT TYPES:


  • All projects should aim to solve one of Spain’s most pressing challenges (unemployment, education, financial crisis, energy dependency, etc.) and to change for the good the lives of 10 million people in Spain in a time period of no more than 5 years from project commence.
  • All projects should be about harnessing technology to achieve such a goal.
  • All projects, in any form, are suitable for participation, but start-ups and projects in the process of becoming start-ups, for its potential for real impact, will be prioritized.
  • All technologies are suitable for participation, but information technologies, for its special potential for global impact, will be prioritized.
  • The project must be original, novel, or otherwise a completely new product or service.
  • The project must be submitted according to the contest rules and by the submission date.

REGISTRATION:


  • The only way to participate and register to the competition is through the competition website.
  • Registered users agree to receive updates regarding the competition, messages, and other communications through the provided email address and phone number entered in the registration process.
  • Information on registration can be found on the website.
  • No late submissions will be accepted
  • All documents must be written in English.
  • All videos shoud be submitted in English

JUDGING PROCESS:


The judging process of the contest is comprised of 3 separate stages.


STAGE 1 - SCREENING


All submitted projects will be reviewed by two (2) judging committee delegates to evaluate the quality and innovation of the proposals. No more than 50 projects will be selected to continue to the next stage - Semi Finals.


STAGE 2 - SEMI FINALS


All semifinalist projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges, experts in technology, business and social enterprises.

Judges will be asked to review and evaluate the projects and the candidates based on the following criteria:

  • Project originality and innovation.
  • Feasibility to impact the Spanish society (10 million people in 5 years).
  • Personal obligation and ability to realize the initiative.
  • Candidate personality, skills and record.
  • Candidate entreprenuerial and leadership experience and capacities.


The 5 best projects will continue to the next stage – Final



STAGE 3 - CONTEST FINAL EVENT


A contest final event will be organised, where contest winners will be announced, and scholarships will be awarded.

PRIZES:


The three winners will receive a scholarship to the 2017 Graduate Solutions Program (GSP-16) at Singularity University in NASA Ames Park in California, worth US $35,000 each.

This ten-week interdisciplinary program brings together entrepreneurial leaders and top graduate and postgraduate students from around the globe to explore solutions aimed at solving some of the world's most pressing challenges.
